Today, the OTC Market Group announced the fourth quarter 2016 performance and quarterly rebalancingof the OTCQX® and OTCQB® indexes, including the OTCQX Canada Index and the OTCQX Dividend Index. 

Through 10 indicies, the OTC Markets Group tracks the performance of various securities traded on their platform. 

Some of the larger company indexes include The OTCQX Billion+ Index (.OTCQXBIL), which benchmarks the performance of $1 billion-plus market cap OTCQX companies and The OTCQX Banks Index(.OTCQXBK), comprised of OTCQX community and regional banks.

Interesting indexes for our microcap readers include; The OTCQX Composite Index (.OTCQX), The OTCQX Canada Index (.OTCQXCAN), The OTCQX U.S. Index (.OTCQXUS), The OTCQB Venture Index (.OTCQB).

OTCQX Composite Index (.OTCQX)

About: .OTCQX tracks the overall OTCQX Best Market.

Performance: The OTCQX Composite Index was relatively unchanged (-0.15%) in the fourth quarter and up 3.6% for the full year of 2016.

Rebalance: 33 companies were added to the index in the fourth quarter and 53 companies were removed.

The OTCQX Canada Index (.OTCQXCAN)

About: .OTCQXCAN tracks Canadian companies traded on OTCQX. 

Performance: The OTCQX Canada Index was down 3% since its October 2016 inception.

Rebalance: 9 companies were added to the index in the quarter and 27 companies were removed

The OTCQX U.S. Index (.OTCQXUS)

About: .OTCQXUS is comprised of U.S.-based OTCQX companies.

Performance: The OTCQX U.S. Index was up 6.7% in the fourth quarter and up 8.3% for the full year 2016.

Rebalance: 18 companies were added to the index and 21 companies were removed in the fourth quarter. 

The OTCQB Venture Index (.OTCQB)

About: .OTCQB tracks the overall OTCQB Venture Market.

Performance: OTCQB Venture Index was up 13.2% in the fourth quarter and down 3.4% for the full year 2016.

Rebalance: One hundred six companies were added to the index in the quarter and 102 companies were removed.
