QBie™ Spotlight: Appia Energy Corp (OTCQB: APAAF)

QBie™ Spotlight joins Mr. Tom Drivas, CEO, President, & Director of Appia Energy Corp. (OTCQB: APAAF), to discuss one of the OTCQB’s newest additions. APAAF joined the OTCQB on January 9, 2018.

What does Appia Energy do?

Tom Drivas (CEO, President, & Director – OTCQB: APAAF): “Appia Energy Corp. is a Canadian-based, dual-focused mineral exploration and resource development company; exploring for high-grade rare earth elements (“REE”) and uranium (“U” or “ U3O8”) in the prolific uranium-rich Athabasca Basin area of northern Saskatchewan, and continued development of the historic Elliot Lake large-tonnage REE and U project. The Elliot Lake camp has produced 362 M lbs U3O8 between 1955 and 1996, and is the source of the “only” commercial extraction of REEs in Canada. The Company currently has NI 43-101 compliant resources over two zones at Elliot Lake: 8.0 M lbs U3O8 and 47.7 M lbs Total REE Indicated, 20.1 M lbs U3O8 and 133.2 M lbs Total REE Inferred at Teasdale Lake, and 27.6 M lbs U3O8 Inferred at Banana Lake.

The exploration efforts of Appia Energy is helmed by Mr. James Sykes, who has been an integral player in the discovery and/or advancement of more than 450 M lbs U3O8 in the Athabasca Basin, most notably for NexGen Energy’s Arrow deposit and Hathor Exploration’s Roughrider deposits.”

What is the next big goal the Company is trying to accomplish/what should we keep an eye out for?

Tom Drivas: “The Company is very excited to continue advancing the Alces Lake REE exploration project in northern Saskatchewan. The Alces Lake project is host to some of the highest-grade REE occurrences in the world (see Company news release dated October 31, 2017). Of importance is the world-class endowment of critical REEs (Nd, Pr, and Dy). Critical REEs are those that are i) in high demand for emerging technological applications, such as electric vehicles, wind energy, cell phones and computers, etc. (i.e. the “seeds” of technology), ii) in scarce Global supply, especially outside of China, and iii) in applications lacking recycling, replacement and/or re-invention. In addition to extremely high-grades, the REE mineralization is at surface, has been traced over 5 separate zones, and preliminary investigations suggest the REE mineralization is completely hosted in coarse-grained monazite with no other REE minerals present. The latter is important because processing of monazite is very well documented and readily applicable.

The public should keep an eye out for Appia’s planned field program at Alces Lake scheduled for the summer of 2018. The Company is planning for a program that will delineate large areas of REE mineralization at surface, to be followed with a diamond drill program. If the summer program proves to be successful, the Company is anticipating an initial resource estimate for the critical REEs at the Alces Lake property by the end of 2018.”

Why did you join the OTCQB/go public?

Tom Drivas: “We joined the OTCQB to gain more exposure and expand our current shareholder base in the American investment markets. The USA currently imports 90% of U3O8 and 100% of REEs from Europe and/or Asia. We believe that we have commodities that could be instrumental for exporting to our neighbours, and the market should be aware of our continued efforts going forward.”

How can members of the microcap community help you?

Tom Drivas: “Members of the microcap community can help Appia Energy by investing in the Company, continuing to follow the Company via news releases, media attractions, etc., and by providing commentary, information and/or contact details for REE and U end-users who could benefit from the Company’s projects, such as Elliot Lake and Alces Lake. Word of mouth is an effective means of dissemination which can provide awareness of the Company.”
